  6. Feb 21,  · I found this full Album “Bostic Rocks Hits of the Swing Age” and will message it to him, the description even says he’s on Alto. The intonation on this album even sounds like an Alto Sax. Check out his tone on the Alto in this album!!! Goes to show we don’t necessarily have to play Tenor to get a big, rockin’ sound.
  7. Oct 11,  · Earl Bostic, a saxophonist active from the 30s through the 60s, was one of the musicians presented. [Berklee School of Music professor Jeff] Harrington explained that he was a total virtuoso on the alto saxophone, but that his work is often marginalized by critics and by the jazz community, written off as commercial or entertainment music.

  9. Mar 27,  · Here's somewhat of a rarity. Earl Bostic, best known for his alto abilities, playing soprano saxophone here up to the bridge of Hank Williams' tune, "Your Cheatin' Heart.".
